It’s only the first week of March and we’ve already seen a spate of wildfires across our moors.
Natural England’s restrictions on traditional land management practices such as controlled winter burning has led to an increased fuel load, creating conditions ripe for wildfires like these.
We recently wrote to the Home Secretary to ask her to reverse Natural England's restrictions on vegetation management and to make it the law for countryside fuel loads to be treated as seriously as those in cities.
