An extremely busy few weeks for our Peak District moorland gamekeepers, focused on implementing meaningful wildfire mitigation and increasing the resilience of our precious moorland areas, prior to approaching the usual “wildfire” season, though this window is widening significantly due to changes in seasonal climate.
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service had arranged to be present, to gain hands on experience from one of our grouse estates and their knowledgeable gamekeepers in the northern part of the peak.

Sadly the rain started after setting up, preventing any successful burns, so the brigade changed their training to cutting control lines with their newly acquired brush cutters.
This type of work is essential, not only in honing skills in a controlled manner, but also in multi partner team building.
