Mark Cunliffe-Lister welcomed everyone to Swinton Park on Monday evening for the AGM. There was a strong turnout to hear his fourth and final annual Chairs’ update which revisited what has been a busy year before the accounts for last year were approved by members.
Members also voted in four new elected board directors. The Moorland Association board is now as follows:
James Lambert OBE (Chairman)
Jonathan Baltesz
Tom Bolton MC
Guy Bostock
Simon Kirkup
Dan Richmond-Watson
Nick Walmsley
Huge thanks were offered to departing directors all of whom have made a very significant contribution to the board on behalf of members: Mark Cunliffe-Lister, Nick Downshire, Simon Gurney, Adrian Thornton-Berry, George Winn-Darley and Adrian Blackmore.
James Lambert was elected as Chair by fellow board directors at a meeting held later that evening. A press release has been issued to media, which can be found here. James has a distinguished track record as an entrepreneur and we will no doubt benefit enormously from his business and leadership acumen.
After the voting, members received an update on the new strategic plan from Andrew Gilruth. This was a summary of the strategy presentation given to members at eight regional events over the last few months. He outlined how the board will prioritize and begin implementing it before reporting back on progress at the members’ evening in November.
David Greenwood also shared his detailed analysis of the hen harrier brood management scheme trial which is in its final year.
